Channel Shortening for Bit Rate Maximization in DMT Communication Systems

Résumé

This paper considers the problem of impulse response shortening for discrete multitone (DMT) transceivers. The proposed channel shortening filter shortens the effective channel impulse response (CIR) while concentrating energy in a predetermined window. This approach is based on convolution operation and filter coefficients decomposition which over constraint the effective CIR and allows achieving better performance. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the classical channel shortening approachs in terms of achievable bit rate and computational complexity.
