Training our students to act as competent and responsible agents involved in research and innovation on a global scale.

Résumé

The University of Rennes 1 is a multidisciplinary University that regroups 19 training departements. The main fields of training and research are focused on life sciences, materials, health science, mathematics, communication sciences & technologies and human and social sciences. About 24 000 students are evenly split into those fields leading to the awarding of more than 10 000 Diplomas/year. The studies organisation, research organization and international affairs are described in relationship with student mobility. The different Master curricula, including the French graduate school of engineering specificity, present common eductional methods. Beside conventional lecture-style course, and in order to developp student's abilities (adaptability, creative spirit, leadership, global world vision), 3 significant modules complete their training : - Practice-Based teaching : Practical works and Industrial R&D projects - Industrial and academic internships - Student Personnal Professional Project (SPPP) An example of Industrial R&D project is given by means of the presentation of the European Shell Eco Marathon. The importance of student mobility via internship in foreign countries, the part and the position of the pratical works and the content of the SPPP module will be discussed. Those modules are present from undergraduate level to doctorate and, for the internship abroad, are supported by an important foreign partners network.
