A New Control Model for Closed-loop Algarithms in Type 1 Diabetes

Résumé

The development of new control models for T1DM to represent more accurately the plasma glucose-insulin dynamics is needed for efficient closed-loop algorithm. Thus we propose a new control model on the form of a nonlinear system of three time-continuous state equations and it is not a model of variation around basal values of the plasma glucose and insulin concentration. Then its design is defined by two features. The first is the introduction of two successive remote compartments for the insulin to account for a slow and a fast glucose dynamics. The second one is that the modeling of the insulin action in glucose disappearance is done through an original nonlinear form. This nonlinear form is chosen so that the mathematical equilibrium relation of the control model is consistent with observed equilibrium points.
