Tutorial: Analysing sensory data with R and SensoMineR

Résumé

Hands on Analysis of Sensory data with SensoMineR and R SensoMineR and its sister package FactoMineR are completely free packages that contain a wide range of analysis tools specially designed for the sensory scientist. These include analysis of variance, principal components analysis, and correspondence analysis, cluster analysis and multiple factor analysis. It also contains some unique features not found elsewhere, such as hierarchical multiple factor analysis. After an introduction to the SensoMineR package, attendees will learn how to analyse QDA data, conduct Preference mapping analyses and then the abilities of the package to analyse different types of data such as that collected by Napping or free sorting will be demonstrated. o Introduction to R and the SensoMineR package o Installing R and Rcmdr o Introduction to R and its main features o Installing SensoMineR and its graphical user interface o Analysing QDA data with SensoMineR o Characterizing products from both univariate and multivariate points of view: how to obtain an automatic description of the products and confidence ellipses around products? o Assessing panel performances o Understanding and Mapping consumers' preferences o How to get clusters of consumers that are homogenous in terms of preferences? How to describe those clusters? o How to get a preference mapping? o Analysing holistic data with SensoMineR (Napping® data, Categorization data)
