Résumé

This letter quantitatively compares two processing strategies for geocoding polarimetric processing results that are available using the interface between the PolSARPro and MapReady software packages. The statistical results show that there is no significant difference between the two approaches. However, closer examination of the products reveals that the segmentation derived from a geocoded coherency matrix is more effective in delineating regional patterns. Alternatively, geocoding the polarimetric segmentation leads to a result that is more sensitive to local variations at a pixel scale. Therefore, the user's application should drive the choice of which processing strategy to follow.
