Résumé

This paper introduces a new method to measure the gain of small antennas. It is usually measured using an anechoic chamber covered with absorbing materials and calibrated reference antennas. Unfortunately, the space, cost and time requirements for chamber installation are quiet high. In this paper, GTEM cell has been proposed for this measurement as a less expensive alternative. The validity of this suggestion is asserted through measurements comparison of obtained results. Power losses induced by the antenna are also investigated. The effectiveness and limitation of antenna measurements using a GTEM cell are also presented and discussed.
