Compact bowtie dielectric resonator antenna for broadband applications

Résumé

This paper presents a broadband conical bowtie dielectric resonator antenna operating from 4.8 to 6.3 GHz. The DRA is simply excited by a single slot fed by a microstrip feed line. It is found that the bandwidth of the proposed antenna can be as high as 29%. The antenna gain varies between 5.28 and 7.1dBi across the antenna bandwidth (4.8-6.3 GHz). The antennas have broadside radiation patterns in all cases across the matching band. The envelope size of this antenna is 65 × 50 × 9.5 mm3. The reflection coefficient, the radiation pattern and the antenna gain of the proposed configuration are studied. A reasonable agreement between the measured and simulated results is observed.
