Synthesis and crystal structure of a chiral aromatic amine chloride salt (C8H12N)Cl

Abstract : The new organic chloride salt incorporating an aromatic primary amine with a chiral functional group, (S)-α-methylbenzylammonium), has been synthesized by slow evaporation method at room temperature. The crystals are trigonal with non-centrosymmetric sp. gr. R3. The crystal packing is determined by N–H···Cl hydrogen bonds and C–H···π interactions between the aromatic rings of the organic moieties, resulting in supramolecular architecture
