Résumé

In order to investigate the biodiversity of gastero-intestinal nematodes pasasiting African murids, 435 rodents belonging to eight species (Hybomys univittatus, Hylomyscus stella, Praomys cf. petteri, Praomys sp., Deomys ferrugineus, Thamnomys rutilans, Malacomys longipes and Heimyscus fumosus) were collected in Southwestern Gabon during from April 2000 to March 2001, and its stomach content analysis were performed on. All murid rodent species combined the prevalence of nematode infestation was 27%, and 512 of the 525 nematodes were identified as a spirurid nematode species, Protospirura muricola. The species was obtained from D. ferrugineus, H. stella, Praomys sp. and H. fumosus. This is not only the first locality record of this nematode in Gabon, but also the first host records for the present 4 rodent species. Although the measurements of the present nematodes obtained for each host species were given, it is not evident that there is variation in size related to host species.
