Abstract : French politicians seek to gain visibility by publishing books. It is a way to reach voters, but it is above all a way to generate media interest and be talked about. The success of political books demonstrates the individualization of the political field. Four strategies are discussed here: the attempt to stand out; the quest for credibility as a presidential candidate; the attempt to correct a mixed reputation; the effort to save face after a scandal.
