Introduction of the multidisciplinary know-how of the French national training network to contribute to the evolution of microelectronic technologies towards connected objects

Abstract : The worldwide evolution is tending towards a digital society that includes mainly the connected objects and the internet of things. These new objects have a wide spectrum of applications and have a core based on microelectronics devices and systems. The development of such tools needs knowledge and a know-how as well as innovation behavior of the designers and producers of these objects. In this trend, the higher education that trains technicians, engineers and doctors must include the know-how in the initial training but also multidisciplinary awareness in order to work in multidisciplinary teams. This target is a challenge because the future graduates will have to be specialized in the core of the microelectronics field but should also have a solid background in order to be able to understand the specialists of application fields. The French national network for higher education in microelectronics has adopted this strategy that also corresponds to a sharing of dedicated platforms in national and regional interuniversity centers. This paper describes the context, the adopted strategy and gives several examples of training on specific platforms of the network. (Abstract) © 2018 IEEE.
