Ka-band metasurface antenna for data downlink from LEO satellites

Abstract : This paper presents design, realization and measurements of a prototype of metasurface antenna radiating a sectoral beam with isoflux envelope. The prototype, developed for data-downlink applications from LEO satellites, is fed by a circular waveguide and can be associated to a turn table mechanism to provide the same Earth coverage as a conical isoflux beam, with the benefit of a higher gain. © Institution of Engineering and Technology.All Rights Reserved.
